About “Sharpe's enemy”
A band of British and French deserters seizes a mountain village and takes hostages, including women of rank, holding them for ransom. Sharpe is sent to negotiate but finds the renegades led by an old enemy, and what begins as a parley turns into a desperate defence against overwhelming odds.
