Wellington prepares for a major attack against French forces led by Napoleon, but he faces the challenge of preventing French forces from attacking his flank. Sharpe becomes involved in a complex plot that only his luck and skill allow him to survive. He is also burdened by a superior officer who is both ambitious and ineffective. The story is part of a novel by Bernard Cornwell.
