"A Scandal in Bohemia" is the first short story featuring Sherlock Holmes, written by Arthur Conan Doyle. It is the third overall Holmes work and the first of 56 Holmes stories. The story introduces Irene Adler, a notable female character who appears only in this tale. Doyle considered it one of his favorite Holmes stories, ranking it fifth among his twelve favorites. It was first published in June 1891 in The Strand Magazine and later included in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes collection in 1892. The story is also part of several published collections and editions.
