The final book in a new trilogy by Robin Hobb follows the story of Nevare Burvelle, who was believed dead after being beaten by his fellow soldiers. In reality, he survived and was marked by the magic of the Specks, a forest-dwelling people. This magic split his soul into two: Nevare and Soldier's Boy, a warrior meant to protect the Specks from Gernian expansion.
