About “Coot Club”
Coot Club is the fifth book in Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons series, published in 1934. The story follows Dick and Dorothea Callum as they visit the Norfolk Broads during the Easter holidays. Their goal is to learn to sail so they can impress the Swallows and Amazons when they return to the Lake District later that year. Alongside new characters, the siblings explore the North and South Broads and gain experience as sailors. The novel focuses on their adventures and growth as they become "able seamen."
