The Defector is a 2023 alternate history thriller written by Chris Hadfield, a Canadian retired astronaut and author. Published in October 2023 in the United States by Little, Brown and Company, and in the United Kingdom by Quercus, the novel is the second in Hadfield’s Apollo Murders series. The first book in the series, The Apollo Murders, was released in 2021, and a third installment, Final Orbit, followed in 2025.
