About “Into the Labyrinth”
Into the Labyrinth is a 1993 novel by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. It follows Haplo, who is hunted by an ex-lover and an assassin named Hugh the Hand. Xar, Lord of the Nexus, learns of the Seventh Gate, a powerful gateway that can create or destroy worlds. Only Haplo knows its location, though he is unaware of this. With his companion Alfred, Haplo seeks shelter in the Labyrinth, a dangerous maze where its inhabitants are sentenced to death. The novel is part of The Death Gate Cycle, which begins with a millennia-old war between the Sartan and the Patryn. The Sartan divided the world into four realms before disappearing, but the two races have now rediscovered each other through the magic of the Death Gate, reigniting the conflict.
