Since his childhood in the DeepWoods, young Twig has always dreamed of flying above the forest canopy. As a crew member on his father's sky pirate ship, the Stormchaser, he believes he has achieved his goal. However, a greater challenge lies ahead. The city of Sanctaphrax, built on a massive floating rock, is in danger. Its survival depends on stormphrax, a rare resource found only in the center of a Great Storm. Only the Stormchaser, with Twig on board, is capable of entering the storm to retrieve it. This 1999 novel by Paul Stewart follows Twig's journey as he faces this dangerous mission.
