This book is a collection of four short stories drawn from four scrolls found by a young apprentice in the great library of the Free Clearings. The stories are The Wolf of the Clouds, The Pilot of the Stones, The Quest of the Slicer, and The Baptism of Fire of Rufus Filantin. Each story features a character who appears in the fantastical world of previous books. The collection was published in 2007 by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell.
