About “The Three Evangelists”

Sophia Simeonidis, a Greek opera singer living in Paris, wakes to find a tree in her garden. Her husband shows no interest, so she asks her eccentric neighbors—Vandoosler, an ex-cop fired for helping a murderer, and three struggling historians known as the three evangelists—to dig around the tree. They agree due to financial need and curiosity. When nothing is found and Sophia's body is discovered weeks later, the men begin an investigation. The story is part of a novel by Fred Vargas.
