Hiking the Appalachian Trail with friends Chet, Phil, and Biff, the Hardy brothers face a crisis when daredevil Biff is injured. They seek help in the remote mining town of Morgan's Quarry, but the town is anything but welcoming. Two local men leave a bag of money in front of Joe and Frank, sparking confusion and suspicion. The brothers are blocked from learning more about the money, as roads are washed out and phones are nonfunctional. A run-down mansion holds hidden secrets, and every path leads to greater danger. The townspeople seem determined to keep the Hardy brothers from leaving Morgan's Quarry alive. This 2000 novel by Franklin W.
