Frank and Joe Hardy are called to help their father solve the theft of valuable platinum-containing electronic parts from shipments by Stanwide Mining Equipment Company. The boys pose as employees and grow suspicious of the boss's behavior. They investigate the mysterious plane crash that killed the company's chief pilot, Clint Hill. Frank and Joe search the area by air and follow clues to an uninhabited Caribbean island, then to a mountain in Montana, where they confront the thieves. The final and surprising discovery happens in their hometown of Bayport. The story offers suspense, action, and exciting flying scenes.
