About “Arthur”

"Arthur" is a 1989 novel by Stephen R. Lawhead that tells the story of Arthur, known as Pendragon of the Island of the Mighty. He is portrayed as an illegitimate son of Uther, who was deemed unfit to rule. Despite this, Arthur's rise to power was foretold by the bard Taliesin and he learned great secrets from the sage Merlin. The novel follows Arthur as he leads Britain through a time of violence and war, bringing peace and prosperity. His reign ends tragically when he sacrifices himself to save someone he loved deeply. The book explores themes of destiny, leadership, and the historical and mythical connections between Arthur and Britain.
