Rusalka is a fantasy novel by American author C. J. Cherryh, first published in October 1989 by Ballantine Books under the Del Rey imprint. It is the first book in Cherryh's Russian Stories trilogy, set in medieval Russia near the Dnieper River in what is now Ukraine. The story is based on Slavic folklore and follows a girl who has drowned and becomes a rusalka. The novel also explores magic and the growth of a young wizard.
