Jaybee Corbell awoke after more than 200 years in a frozen state, known as a corpsicle, in someone else's body. He was under a sentence of immediate destruction if he failed during training for a one-way space mission. Corbell seized his chance and escaped during the journey, heading toward the galactic core to avoid his captors. He returned to Earth, but it had changed dramatically over three million years. The planet now held dangers beyond anything he had imagined, turning into a nightmare he had to escape. The story is from a 1976 novel by Larry Niven.
