The 2014 novel is the sixth and final book in the Sundering series, a multi-author project launched by R.A. Salvatore. Written by Ed Greenwood, the creator of the Forgotten Realms, it follows Elminster as he battles to protect Faerûn from rising chaos. War, prophecy, and ancient forces collide, with the Shadovar seeking arcane secrets to fuel their war machine. Gods and their Chosen also vie for power, while an ancient threat emerges. Mystra, goddess of magic, has withdrawn, leaving the Weave—magic’s foundation—in danger. Elminster, with Storm Silverhand and Amarune, tries to strengthen the Weave before the Shadovar’s Shadow Weave takes over. Other forces also plot, and as the Sundering nears, Elminster and his allies must act before the fate of the world is decided.
