Fool's Fate is the concluding novel in Robin Hobb's Tawny Man trilogy. The story follows FitzChivalry Farseer, now known as Tom Badgerlock, who lives in the queen's court at Buckkeep. He works with Prince Dutiful, his mentor Chade, and the Skilled Thick to help the prince complete a dangerous quest. The prince must behead a dragon named Icefyre on the island of Aslevjal, a task that could bring peace between the Six Duchies and the Outislands. FitzChivalry struggles to keep the group safe while also hiding his Skill magic. As they prepare for the journey, FitzChivalry makes a secret plan to protect his friend the Fool, despite knowing the Fool has foretold his death. The quest involves solving riddles, facing cultural conflicts, and dealing with betrayal. The novel ends with the truth about the Skill magic and the characters' fates coming to light.
