A Wind in the Door is a young adult science fantasy novel by Madeleine L'Engle, published in 1973. It is a companion to A Wrinkle in Time and part of the Time Quartet. The story begins in November when Meg returns home from school and learns from Charles Wallace that he saw dragons in the twin’s vegetable garden. That night, Meg, Calvin, and Charles Wallace meet the Teacher, known as Blajeny, who reveals the creatures are not dragons but a cherubim named Proginoskes. Charles Wallace is ill, and Blajeny and Proginoskes are there to heal him, which will also maintain the balance of the universe and protect it from the evil Echthros. Meg, Calvin, and Mr. Jenkins must travel inside Charles Wallace to battle and save his life as well as the universe.
