About “The Financier”

The Financier is a novel by Theodore Dreiser, inspired by the real-life businessman Charles Yerkes. Dreiser began writing the book in 1911 and published the first part in 1912 under the title The Financier. The second part was released in 1914 as The Titan. This work was part of Dreiser's Trilogy of Desire, which included a third volume, The Stoic, published in 1947. The Financier was the first of these three novels.
