Trixie is intrigued by Regan's problems and by the sudden appearance of Dan Mangan, a city kid in a black jacket who comes to stay with Mr. Maypenny. While the Bob-Whites organize an Ice Carnival to aid their Mexican pen-pals, Trixie tries to find out why Dan is there and what is troubling Regan, growing suspicious of him after Honey's watch is pawned and the clubhouse is broken into.
