About “Invasion of the Sea”
Invasion of the Sea is an adventure novel by Jules Verne, published in 1905, the last of his works to be released during his lifetime. The story follows European travelers and Berber nomads in Saharan Africa. The Europeans come to assess the possibility of flooding a low-lying area of the Sahara to create an inland sea, aiming to open the region for trade. Despite their confidence in human ability to shape the environment, a major earthquake occurs, leading to the natural formation of the sea they had planned to create. The novel ends with a sense of humility toward nature's power. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
