A Knight of Ghosts and Shadows is a 1985 novel by Piers Anthony. The story follows Jordan, a ghost who resides in Castle Roogna. He spends his time with a young girl named Ivy and watches his past unfold on a magic tapestry. Once a brave knight, Jordan rode his ghostly horse, Pook, on a dangerous mission. He was betrayed by two magicians and the woman he loved, leading to his death and the scattering of his bones. Now, he cannot remember where his bones are buried. His ability to recover from injuries depended on having enough of his body intact, but four hundred years have passed, and no one alive knows where his remains might be. This is an unusual ending for a hero's tale.
