Carolyn Keene is a house pseudonym created and owned by the Stratemeyer Syndicate, used for the enormously popular Nancy Drew mystery series beginning in 1930 as well as The Dana Girls Mystery Stories. The name masked a rotating team of ghostwriters — most notably Mildred Benson and later Harriet Adams — who together produced hundreds of titles that shaped generations of young readers' love of mystery fiction.
