Daniel Nathan (1905-1982), better known as Frederic Dannay, was an American mystery writer who, together with Manfred Bennington Lee, created the Ellery Queen joint pseudonym in 1928. From 1929 to 1971 Dannay and Lee wrote around forty novels and short story collections featuring Ellery Queen, beginning with The Roman Hat Mystery (1929). He is credited here with Art of Adaptation in the Ellery Queen series.
