Darren Shan is the pen name of Irish author Darren O'Shaughnessy, born on July 2, 1972, best known for the young adult horror series Cirque Du Freak: The Saga of Darren Shan. He has also written the supernatural series The Demonata and the zombie thriller series Zom-B, and the Saga was adapted into both manga and a 2009 feature film.
