Frank Herbert

Frank Herbert was an American science fiction author born on October 8, 1920, in Tacoma, Washington, who became one of the most celebrated writers in the genre. He is best known for his sweeping Dune saga, beginning with the 1965 novel Dune, which explored themes of ecology, politics, religion, and human potential across an interstellar empire. Herbert continued the series through five sequels, and Dune itself remains one of the best-selling science fiction novels ever written; Herbert died on February 11, 1986.
