Paul Goodman (September 9, 1911 – August 2, 1972) was an American sociologist, poet, writer, and public intellectual. He is best known for his 1960 book Growing Up Absurd, which addressed issues of youth, society, and alienation. Goodman was also active as an anarchist and pacifist, participating in the Left during the 1960s and influencing the student movement of that era. In addition to his political and social commentary, he was a co-founder of Gestalt Therapy in the 1940s and 1950s. He is primarily remembered for his literary and activist contributions.
