Thomas Perry is an American mystery and thriller novelist born in 1947 in Tonawanda, New York. He earned a B.A. from Cornell University in 1969 and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Rochester in 1974. Perry has held various jobs, including park maintenance worker, factory laborer, commercial fisherman, and university administrator and teacher. He also worked as a writer and producer for prime time network television. He lives in Southern California. Perry is the author of 22 novels, including the Jane Whitefield series and works such as Death Benefits, Pursuit, The Butcher’s Boy, and Metzger’s Dog. He received the Edgar Award for The Butcher’s Boy, and Metzger’s Dog was named a New York Times Notable Book. Several of his novels, including Strip and The Informant, were recognized as New York Times Notable Crime Books, with The Informant also winning the Barry Award for Best Thriller in 2011.
