Veronica Roth is an American author born on August 19, 1988, who grew up outside Chicago and studied creative writing at Northwestern University. She is best known for her debut young adult dystopian series Divergent, which spans four novels and was adapted into a major film franchise. Beyond Divergent, she has continued writing speculative fiction, including the Carve the Mark duology.
