Bernard Samson is a series of nine espionage novels by Len Deighton published 1983-1996, following a middle-aged British intelligence officer investigating whether his wife Fiona, also an intelligence operative, genuinely defected to East Germany or was on a deep-cover mission. The series comprises three trilogies (Game, Set and Match; Hook, Line and Sinker; Faith, Hope and Charity) plus the standalone prequel novel Winter.
