About “A far cry from Kensington”

Set in 1954, the novel is narrated by Mrs Agnes Hawkins, a war widow working at a struggling London publishing house in the years following WWII. She observes and interacts with a variety of eccentric colleagues and residents at her boarding house, including an author she rejects who attempts to retaliate using a pseudoscientific practice called radionics.
