About “Benito Cereno”
In 1799, Captain Amasa Delano, from Duxbury, Massachusetts, was in the harbor of St. Maria, a small, uninhabited island near the southern end of the Chilean coast. He had stopped there to collect water and was in command of a large sealer and trader with a valuable cargo. The story is part of a book that is easy to read in true text, without scanned images that may be hard to understand. The Microsoft eBook includes a contents page linked to chapter headings for easy navigation, while the Adobe eBook has bookmarks at chapter headings and is printable up to two full copies per year. Both versions allow for text searching.
