Cannery Row is a novel by American author John Steinbeck, published in 1945. It is set during the Great Depression in Monterey, California, on a street known as Cannery Row, which is lined with sardine canneries. The story focuses on the lives of the people who live there. Steinbeck later revisited the characters and setting in his 1954 novel Sweet Thursday.
