About “Concrete island”

In this 1974 novel by J. G. Ballard, a 35-year-old architect driving home from his London office crashes his car onto a traffic island beneath three converging motorways. Though uninjured, he climbs the embankment seeking help, but no one will stop for him, and he remains trapped on the island.
