About “Crash”
"Crash" is a 1973 novel by J. G. Ballard. The story follows a narrator who witnesses a car accident and sees a man die. This event changes his view of sexuality and leads him to have an affair with the dead man's wife. He becomes increasingly fascinated by car crashes and meets Robert Vaughan, a former TV scientist who gathers crash victims and performs disturbing experiments. Vaughan seeks a final, dramatic collision involving celebrity and bodily fluids. The novel is known for its shocking blend of violence, transgression, and eroticism. It was later adapted into a controversial film by David Cronenburg.
