About “Diary of a Madman”
"Diary of a Madman" is a farcical short story by Nikolai Gogol, first published in 1835. It is one of Gogol's most famous works, alongside "The Overcoat" and "The Nose." The story follows a minor civil servant during the reign of Nicholas I. The protagonist, Poprishchin, gradually descends into insanity, as shown through his diary entries.
