About “Doskonała próżnia”
A Perfect Vacuum is a 1971 book by Polish author Stanisław Lem, consisting of a collection of reviews of non-existent books. It is the largest and most well-known of Lem’s works featuring fictitious book criticism. The book was translated into English by Michael Kandel. The reviews vary in style, some resembling drafts of Lem’s science fiction novels, others functioning as philosophical essays on scientific topics such as cosmology and the role of computers. Additionally, some pieces satirize literary movements and works, including the nouveau roman, pornography, Ulysses, authorless writing, and Dostoevsky. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
