Nine-year-old David, grieving the loss of his mother and estranged from his traveling father, struggles with anger and loneliness, directing his emotions toward his grandmother. Thirteen-year-old Primrose, who lives with her mother and a framed picture of her unknown father, forms a close but complicated friendship with David, and together they navigate their respective emotional challenges.
