The book follows Zinkoff from first through sixth grade as he navigates school and childhood experiences while remaining unaware of how others perceive him. He is described as someone who raises his hand with all the wrong answers, trips over his own feet, and falls down with laughter over words like "Jabip," and his differences ultimately lead to a moment where his individuality is recognized as heroic.
