Emily Climbs is the second novel in a trilogy by Lucy Maud Montgomery, first published in 1925. The book features Emily Byrd Starr, a young orphan girl who becomes a writer. Montgomery created the character during a period when she was tired of writing the Anne of Green Gables series. At the same time, she was copying her early journal entries, and these personal elements shaped the story. The novel reflects aspects of Montgomery's own life and experiences.
