Lucy Maud Montgomery was a Canadian author born in 1874 in Clifton, Prince Edward Island, who captivated readers worldwide with her beloved Anne of Green Gables series beginning in 1908. Her fiction celebrated the landscapes and rural life of Prince Edward Island and drew on her own experiences growing up there. Beyond the Anne books, she also wrote the Emily trilogy and several other series, leaving a rich literary legacy before her death in 1942.
