Charlie Reade is a seventeen-year-old boy dealing with the loss of his mother and his father's struggle with grief and alcohol. He meets Howard Bowditch, an old man living alone with his dog, Radar. After Bowditch dies, he leaves Charlie a cassette tape that reveals a secret: a portal to another world hidden in a shed. This world is caught in a battle between good and evil, and Charlie must face great challenges. Stephen King wrote Fairy Tale during the early days of the pandemic, inspired by images of a vast, deserted city and a palace with glass towers. The novel explores themes of heroism, imagination, and the fight against overwhelming evil.
