About “Freshwater”

Virginia Woolf wrote a single play, a humorous farce based on the life of her great-aunt, Julia Margaret Cameron, a well-known Victorian photographer. The play was first performed in 1935 at Vanessa Bell's London studio during a Bloomsbury theatrical evening. It was later presented in New York as part of a French production featuring notable actors. The play was edited by Lucio P. Ruotolo and includes drawings by Edward Gorey.
