About “Gerald's Game”

Gerald and Jessie Burlingame go to their summer home on a warm October weekday for a romantic escape. Gerald handcuffs Jessie to the bedposts as part of a game, but she grows tired of it. When Gerald refuses to stop, she lashes out and kills him. Trapped and handcuffed, Jessie is alone with painful childhood memories. A stray dog and the voices in her mind are her only company. As night falls, she wonders if she is alone or if someone is watching her from the corner of her dark bedroom. The novel explores her psychological struggle and the tension between reality and her imagination.
