Raina wakes up one night with a terrible upset stomach, and her mom has one too, so it seems like just a bug. Back at school, she deals with the usual highs and lows of friends and classmates, but her tummy trouble doesn't go away, and it coincides with her worries about food, school, and changing friendships.
