About “Highway to Eternity”

Jay Corcoran investigates the disappearance of a client and discovers a room-sized box attached to the outside wall of the man's empty hotel suite. He contacts Tom Boone, who can "step around a corner" into some otherwhere, and together they enter the box, arriving in 1745 England, where they encounter a family of refugees from a future a million years distant, fleeing the conversion of humanity to incorporeal form by alien Infinites.
