Illegal follows Ebo, a boy whose sister left months earlier and whose brother has now also disappeared, prompting Ebo to undertake the hazardous journey to Europe. He survives the Sahara Desert, reaches the city of Tripoli, and enters the dangerous waters of the Mediterranean, holding onto hope for a new life and reunion with his sister at every step.
