Master Humphrey's Clock was a weekly periodical edited and written by Charles Dickens, published from April 1840 to December 1841. It began with a frame story featuring Master Humphrey, who tells stories with his friends. The periodical included several short stories and later featured the novels The Old Curiosity Shop and Barnaby Rudge. Originally, The Old Curiosity Shop was intended as a short story, but Dickens expanded it into a novel.
