My Past and Thoughts is an extensive autobiography by Alexander Herzen, begun in the early 1850s and continually revised until his death. It was first serialized in Polyarnaya Zvezda and later published as a complete work after his passing. Major sections were translated into English, German, and French during his lifetime. The book offers a detailed account of social and political life in the Russian Empire and the European West during the mid-19th century. It is regarded as a classic of Russian literature.
