About “Pro Sestio”
Pro Sestio was an oration delivered by the Roman orator Marcus Tullius Cicero in 56 BC to defend his friend Publius Sestius, who faced charges of public violence. Sestius had helped secure Cicero's return from exile in 57 BC. In the speech, Cicero claimed that Sestius's actions were both self-defense and beneficial to the republic. The case was resolved on 14 March 56 BC, with Sestius being acquitted by the jury. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
